This past April, Hibbing Community College hosted a Career
Exploration Fair for Upward Bound high school students. Small groups of high
school students had the chance to sit down and discuss different career paths
with professionals from a variety of different industries. Present at the fair
was our very own Dr. Les Flemming and two IRE students. Together we discussed
what engineering is, the paths that we took into engineering, and what makes
the IRE program unique.
From an IRE student perspective, it was a wonderful chance
to see where we’ve come since our days in high school and to be able to offer
these students some helpful guidance and perspective.
